We are Ben & Crystal Woods, married since 2001 & proud parents of Ezra, Calla & Lilah Woods. We’re parents who care deeply about teaching our kids to be kind. ®LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT started as a Team Woods family culture code, one that highlights the importance of empathy, compassion, kindness & inclusion.
We’re convinced it’s a call to kindness that everyone needs to hear.
We’ve been inspired to share ®LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT with schools because our sweet daughter, Calla, lived it out so beautifully in her life here.
Calla is the kind of kid who makes a friend wherever she goes, the kind of kid who always makes room for one more, the kind of kid who looks out for the left out. She always has a plan & that plan always includes you.
As a 3rd grader, Calla started her own online slime shop to help serve & support vulnerable kids in Romania, using the simple things she had available to her to make a difference in the lives of others. Just months later, Calla was diagnosed with a rare & aggressive brain cancer. After a brave battle, she was rescued to Heaven in the summer of 2019.
Calla’s powerful example of kindness & inclusion has made lasting impacts on us, on her class, her school, her community & her world. Her short life lived well has inspired so many to ®LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT & make the brave choice to be kind to those around them.
From her slime shop, to being the friend that everyone needs in the classroom, to the faith & strength Calla displayed in facing the unimaginable right up to her rescue to Heaven, Calla’s legacy continues to ripple.
Calla Lily Slime Shop
Calla Woods has always had a heart to love others, near & far, & to ®LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT. This passionate, radiant, & joyful 9 year-old started her very own slime shop in the fall of 2018 as a way to support her dreams of serving with Forget Me Not Ministries, an organization that supports, leads, & loves at-risk children in Tinca, Romania.
Calla’s choice to use the simple ingredients she had available to her & her expertise in slime to help others has created a powerful impact that continues to ripple. She is proof that you don’t have to wait to be a grown up to change the world!
After Calla’s rescue to Heaven in the summer of 2019, Team Woods has continued her efforts to support the important work being done in Romania by keeping her store open. We have the privilege of pressing into Calla’s vision by making her signature slime recipes & making them available to others who want to step into her story.
100% of all proceeds from Calla Lily Slime Shop go to fund “Casa Calla,” a special project created by Forget Me Not Ministries in our girl’s honor. “Casa Calla” will be a dedicated space to care & provide for vulnerable teen girls in Tinca, Romania.
To date, over $184,000 has been raised through Calla’s Slime Shop & her great big heart to ®LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT!
